Im surprised there are not more replies here...
well I have to say this is cool. I have actually been thinking about using the same (almost the same) for an idea I had about printing out some large objects, piece by piece from a 3d printer.

anyhows, this is really cool! keep us posted.

The Loft Scan reminded me of the 3D Printer software that slices your model into horizontal layers:

No reason MoI can't divide your solid model into manageable blocks (based on the 3D printer's work envelope) to feed into the printer software.
