It can generally be awkward to do a lot of surface control point editing with NURBS because you can't just insert a single individual point somewhere in a surface, a NURBS surface is defined by a UV grid of points with rows and columns in it. So when you add points you have to add an entire row or column of them, not just one single one.

Because sub-d modeling allows more arbitrary connections of points makes it usually more suitable for surface point manipulation.

In the future I will be adding more stuff for editing surface control points in MoI but since it's just not an area that NURBS are particularly strong in it has not been a focus area yet - I'm still much more focused on areas where NURBS are particularly powerful in like construction from 2D curves and boolean operations.

Well there I was talking about just regular NURBS surface control point editing, like more tools for selecting points, stuff like that.

Michael when doing loft, any point weights applied to it? Or all points are the same weight?

Hi Andrei,

It depends on the "Profiles" mode that's being used for the loft. Usually the profiles will be refit by curves so that the profiles are matched up by the distance traveled along each curve and not squished or stretched depending on control point spacing. So by default it's influenced more by the overall shape and length of the curve and not by any individual control points.
