Hello,

Here is my latest concept car tryout created today with moi3d from start to finish.I just let it to my mind to create freely. It is not perfect, and maybe it could be a 3d printed car toy.Now I'm thinking to try to produce a car shape with network tool.It wasn't easy to create, sometimes I saw errors in surface to late, but I was persistent and I still am.On third image you can see how i cut and extrude the shape.I hope you like it.I must Thank you all for your tutorials and explanations in your posts,it helped me a lot to speed up my workflow.

Nice job Nikola -

I know it's not easy to model a car, but I've always wanted to design/model a concept car.

I would definitely do it your way, starting with a large basic solid rather than try to build panel-by-panel.

Maybe you could make a short tutorial showing more of the intermediate steps, such as offsetting the door.

Hi Nikola,

Great concept! If you're interested MoI user Lyes modelled a SLK Mercedes a while back starting with a network 'blob', as he puts it. It's another method, however you have to make sure your underlying curves are clean and smooth.

Cheers

Thanks for the link Danny - Wow, that's from 2008 when I first started using MoI.

It would be cool to have a concept car tutorial - Are you listening Majik Mike? :)

Hi Ed,
I've mentioned it before... Cars are my Kryptonite! ...I still lack the confidence. :-/

Cars like human faces, you know from first glance whether they're ugly or pretty, and my concepts are still 'fugly'.

But as soon as we get surface matching tools and networks surfaces that automatically blend to adjacent edges with curvature/tangent consistency - well I'll be all over it! ;-)
