Have you had any luck finding out anything about the possible process for this? Everything I have searched ends up being more 2D than 3D. I will keep search, but if you come up with anything in the mean time, please let me know. I have also been curious about the RP/Machining process with respect to digital 3D models.

I'm reminded of this artist we have locally that mills beautiful dolphin sculptures out of dead tree stumps.

If a tree falls on the side of a highway, you might just end up seeing a lacquered sculpture there in the stump's place.

Now if you had a portable wood-cutting CNC!
