Michael-

I've replaced the file, but it doesn't appear to have restored the scrolling. It seems to act the same.

Apple has a system use for the 2 finger double tap (Mission Control function), so perhaps they did a little remapping. The single finger double tap does function the same as the Reset button.

Hi Michael, thanks for testing it - a little later today I'll try something slightly different and post another test file.

You know, maybe since I'm not familiar with the magic mouse at all I might not be understanding how the scroll for it actually works, do you only have one finger touching in the trackpad-like area when doing the scroll?

Michael-

Yes, one finger is used for the scrolling feature. I'll attach images of the control panel so you can see the various gestures that it uses.

My MacBook is kept closed at work and I "dock" it with a Apple Cinema Display, so I don't use the track pad. At home, I use the MacBook open. I just did a little testing with the track pad and everything works as it's supposed to. I can pan and tilt, zoom in and out via the 2 finger pinch and can rotate, as well.

Hi Michael, here is a second try attached here, hopefully this one will bring back the previous scroll function now. If it doesn't there are other things I can try, but I'll be away from my computer for about a week and won't be able to build new versions until I return.

Michael-

That seemed to do the trick. The use of the scrolling to activate the zoom works again with the Magic Mouse.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for testing it Michael, I'm glad that second one solved the problem. The messages the magic mouse was sending were a little unexpected - it sends a "gesture begin" message but then says 0 fingers were touching (I had thought it might say 1 but it doesn't seem to since that's what my first try was looking for).

But now that I know what it does I can treat it as an exception to the new scroll processing.

So the next beta will have this update in it.

Thanks - Michael

Hi guys,

Just started working with a Mac (loving it). I'm using a magic mouse, but the only MoI viewport navigation I could achieve with it so far is zooming in or out with a one-finger swipe (the virtual mouse wheel), and double-tapping for a single zoom-in. In Blender you can use the magic mouse surface as a swipe gesture trackpad for orbiting, panning and zooming. Is this also possible in MoI?

The Blender controls are:

Moving your finger across the magic mouse surface = orbit
Holding Shift and move your finger across the magic mouse surface = pan
Holding Control and move your finger up or down = zoom

It would be very, very convenient if those controls could be synchronised between Blender and MoI, as I switch between them a lot.

Thanks!

Metin

Hi Metin, sorry no I don't think that it's possible to use the Magic Mouse as a trackpad like you're asking about. But I'm not really all that familiar with the magic mouse myself though, is there possibly some kind of setting you have to enable in driver options to make it behave differently than a regular mouse?

Hi Michael,

Thanks for your swift reply.

There are a few magic mouse controls you can (de)activate using the Mac OS X system preferences, but I didn't change anything for the Blender controls to work.

If you're interested in supporting the magic mouse capabilities, I'd be more than happy to test it for you as much as necessary.

Thanks,

— Metin

It might be something I could look into during the v4 development period, which will be a while yet before it gets underway.

There's a terrific - and free - utility that opens the magic mouse to be just about anything you want it to be, called MagicPrefs (it works on the trackpad too).

http://magicprefs.com

You can even setup the various options for functionality by application.

Brett.
