Hi guys,

Just started working with a Mac (loving it). I'm using a magic mouse, but the only MoI viewport navigation I could achieve with it so far is zooming in or out with a one-finger swipe (the virtual mouse wheel), and double-tapping for a single zoom-in. In Blender you can use the magic mouse surface as a swipe gesture trackpad for orbiting, panning and zooming. Is this also possible in MoI?

The Blender controls are:

Moving your finger across the magic mouse surface = orbit
Holding Shift and move your finger across the magic mouse surface = pan
Holding Control and move your finger up or down = zoom

It would be very, very convenient if those controls could be synchronised between Blender and MoI, as I switch between them a lot.

Thanks!

Metin

Hi Metin, sorry no I don't think that it's possible to use the Magic Mouse as a trackpad like you're asking about. But I'm not really all that familiar with the magic mouse myself though, is there possibly some kind of setting you have to enable in driver options to make it behave differently than a regular mouse?

Hi Michael,

Thanks for your swift reply.

There are a few magic mouse controls you can (de)activate using the Mac OS X system preferences, but I didn't change anything for the Blender controls to work.

If you're interested in supporting the magic mouse capabilities, I'd be more than happy to test it for you as much as necessary.

Thanks,

— Metin

It might be something I could look into during the v4 development period, which will be a while yet before it gets underway.

There's a terrific - and free - utility that opens the magic mouse to be just about anything you want it to be, called MagicPrefs (it works on the trackpad too).

http://magicprefs.com

You can even setup the various options for functionality by application.

Brett.
