Hi Burr, here's a plug-in command that will do that, copy into the \commands folder and then run CameraPoint.

Note that you will not initially see the point in the 3D view since you can't see something that is directly on the camera location, things have to be at least a small distance in front of the camera in order to be visible within the 3D view when in perspective projection mode.
