select iso curve

Hi,

I am testing the Moi V2 for Windows before I purchase. I have to say that I love the interface. I have been looking for a way to select iso-curves from NURBS patches within Moi.

The only way that I have found so far is to:
select a surface,
turn the points on,
move a point to break the the angular tolerance
and copy the resulting curve from the surface split.

That is a pretty ugly way of getting curves off of NURBS patches and isnt giving me precise results. I looked through the manual and didn't see any obvious tool to select iso curves.

Am I missing something?

Thanks,

IC

Hi IC, there isn't any convenient way to generate isocurves in MoI v2, but there has been a new method specifically for that added in to v3, it was introduced in the Jul-20 v3 beta, some info on it here:
http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=5285.1

So right now that's only in a beta release version and not in the trial version currently.

Michael,

That was a speedy reply! Thanks for that..

Looks like V3 is a significant update.. I'll play with V2 some more. If I buy a license for V2 will I automatically have access to V3 beta?

about when do you expect to release V3?

Moi is like Sketchbook Designer has a baby with Rhino that takes a stab at ILOVESKETCH.

I would love to see a Multitouch View port for Windows 8 tablets (I use a ASUS EP121 with pen and touch).

Thanks for the input.

Hi IC,

> Looks like V3 is a significant update..

Yup, there's a collection of all the release notes for what's new in v3 (except the most recent one I still have to add that) here: http://moi3d.com/wiki/V3Beta

Yup, everyone that has a V2 license can use the V3 beta. The betas eventually expire so you will need to upgrade eventually to actually get the final v3 version though.

It's hard to say exactly, maybe something like between 4 to 6 months from now, depending on how things go. There are still quite a few things I want to add.
