Should I wait for MoI 3?

Hi there! I was considering on buying MoI 2, but since the third version is already on beta... would it be better for me to wait for 3 to be released? Or would it take too long... I mean, if it's going to be at least 6 months until release, then going with 2 is ok.

Or seen from another angle... anybody knows what are the pricing plans for full / upgrade licenses?

Thanks!

Hi ESMP, there is pretty much always a beta available - I like to release beta versions as soon as there is anything new at all, so that it can get tested and refined right away. It's not like some other projects where a beta is only released very close to the end of the release.

So for MoI's case you should not take the existence of the v3 beta to also mean that the final v3 release is imminent. I'm still planning on adding a lot more stuff to v3. I don't know exactly when it will be released, but I hope for sometime in the first half of next year, roughly 5-6 months from now.

It's not 100% finalized yet, but likely the v3 prices will be the same as they are now, $295 for a full license, $100 upgrade from v2.

Hi Michael!

Wow, what a quick reply! I really appreciate when "customer service" is that fast. That speaks a lot about the company.

Thank you for making the beta version clear. Because actually yes, I was thinking that beta meant soon-to-be-released v3.
Anyway, 5-6 months sounds like a good timespan for me to consider purchasing v2 and being worth it, instead of waiting.

Thanks again for your help!

Cheers!

Hi ESMP

As a user ... go for it. V3 is stable and a joy to work with.

The investment is small compared with any other good modeler out there.

I have used Rhino for years ... now I do all my actual modeling with MoI and then use Rhino for dimensions and rendering ... some of the things MoI does not offer yet.

But with some of the dimensioning tools offered out there that are free or very low cost and some low cost rendering software one can do very professional work with minimum investment ... with MoI being a great foundation.

No, I don't own a piece of MoI but I am a very grateful user.

cheers,
eric
