Hi DesuDeus, here's what I get using the built-in importer with your same .obj file and using built-in render:

I can't see any hint of problems there at all, so that tells me that you're probably looking at some stuff specific to Maxwell and you'll likely need to get some tips from the Maxwell forum for how to tweak things to make it happier.

You also might try putting in just a plain sphere created directly in C4D and rendering it at the same time, do you get the same kind of artifacts there? If so then it's something related to render settings or the HDRI you're using and nothing to do with geometry transfer at all.

- Michael

Hi:i opened your exported file in C4D,i saw you made two selections so i applied two materials
set-up scene then export to ARION 2

engine=Unbiased
f=8
shutter= 250/1
focal lenght=35mm
iso=500
tonemapping=Agfacolor Ultra 050
opened in PS just to insert logo,no retouching at all.

your render is nice too,Rich..considering you did it just with C4D..i think if you do it in VRay you'll get same results
i see few guys on the other thread asking about Arion2:this is an Arion shot !
i'll post more Arion images soon,(i'm doing an heavy project..needs a lot of work..)

this handle is simple but cool,Shapenoid:my compliments !
so you got 3 elements:
1)the model
2)the HDRI lighting image
3)the render engine

something failed and you have pointed the finger on Moi that seems to be the wimpy ring of the chain but it isn't !
i know..Maxwell is out of suspects of course...but here,at home,sometimes we used to say that Mercedes cars can break too (i hope you'll understand what i mean)

Thanks.. Mostly I render with VrayforC4D myself. :-) Although the new R14 physical is great as well.

Peace,

Just for the input, I get lots of trouble with maxwell too.
Well the problem is often the export plugin that send the geomtry into maxwell ... for some reason the vertex normal is lost, or discard.

It happends to me with modo to maxwell and 3dsmax to mawell ... for both package the MoI object was rendered fine using native render engine.

The only way to succesfully export moi geometry into maxwell with 3dsmax was to use npower nurbs for max ... but it's a really expensive solution (and I get many trimming
surface trouble when I test it).

That said it was 6 months ago ... maybe they fix it with recent release.
