Tried re-installing the app. Still doesn't work

Could it be because of my moi.ini ?

Hi DesuDeus,

> When I press "New window" it says Run shell script action cannot be run

Are you possibly running any anti-virus mechanisms that might be interfering with things?

Maybe there is some kind of permissions problem - what method are you using to unzip the .app.zip file?

Try right-clicking on the .app and choose "Show package contents" - then inside there go to Contents/Resources - there should be a file there named runwine.sh - does that file have execute permissions set on it? When you are in a terminal at that directory and you do a ls -l what do you see reported as the permissions for that file?

Also do you possibly have any unusual permissions set on your /tmp folder ?

Hi DesuDeus,

> Could it be because of my moi.ini ?

It's not likely to have anything to do with moi.ini - it's more likely some problem in permissions set on some files.

Also you might try doing a system reboot - some stuff in OSX can get confused with duplicated apps, it could be possible that first try where you duplicated the app may have gotten things into a bad state.

Hi Shapenoid, yes the mechanism for the new window opening uses an automator app that runs a shell script.

But I don't really know why that mechanism is not working properly on your machine.

I'm away on vacation now, but when I return in a week I'll investigate some more.

Hi Desudeus, please let me know if you see any difference on 10.8 , that might point to some kind of issue with 10.6.x .

I can probably help you more easily with 10.8 since I have that here, but I do not have 10.6.x here and so it's difficult for me to investigate problems with it.

One thing to note is that if you install the very latest 10.8 update, the 10.8.2 version you will need to install XQuartz and change a setting in MoI in order to run the current v3 beta on 10.8.2 as described here: http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=5414.10

And also for running version 2.5 on 10.8.2 you will want to get the latest 2.52 version which you can get at http://moi3d.com/reinstall.htm - it will run on 10.8.2 without any other things required.

Ok.

I got multiple users on that computer, maybe it's the problem ?

There's the admin, and I got my own name as a user with limited rights (asking for password when installing apps). I got the password by the way.

I tried changing permissions of the MoI app and it's sub-directories with no success.

Will tell you how it goes with 10.8 :)

Hi DesuDeus, that's great news! It is still a mystery to me why it was not working on your previous machine... Probably something related to permissions but it's hard to know exactly what.
