hi,

just trying to model a strawberry with the flow command, when i try to use a revolved object it either produces garbage, or no result at all.
when i use an object with a trimmed circle ot top and bottom, it produces a result, but then i have a hard time to close the hole. i created
the "bump map" with the network and just by multiplication... a strawberry has all these little indentations with a kernel in the center....
does anyone have a good workflow modeling a real looking strawberry ??

cheers from cologne...

torsten

Buy a punnet whilst they are in season look down on one from above and free hand the shape, then rorate and view from sides, unless you have callipers to measure it, and do this 5 or 6 times, split the top curve with intersecting profile curves and then network it piece by piece. Then you can apply you routine per piece.

Hi Torsten,

This may help: http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=4549.1
though only academically.

The way you're doing it will cause the pattern to pinch near the poles.

My big suggestion is to avoid the pole areas with and objects (degenerate points/sides). The Flow command has difficulty in those areas.

If you are able to wrap the pattern in the majority of the surface area, you can always use other methods to complete the remaining area.

Could you please post the 3DM model file with the objects that produce the garbage or non-result so I can test with them over here?

Worked on a Raspberry a while back, with a little different technique:

First you have to count how many seeds in a strawberry :-)
