When pressing Alt key to temporarily turn off snapping, it could be turning off also curve closing.

Hi Allan - I've updated the point picking mechanism for the next v3 beta so that holding down Alt will also disable that "Closed" snap as well as other snaps for curve and polyline drawing.

Thanks for the feedback - Michael

Please explain which snaps should be disabled by Alt, and which should not. (?)
Seems like I misunderstood the question. The closed snap is still working with Alt pressed.
I'll have to read up on Alt.

Hi Brian, it's intended that holding down Alt should suppress all snaps temporarily and allow free placement of points while it is still held down.

But the initial question sounded to me like a bug report that holding down Alt does not suppress the special "Closed" snap.

My reply was that I've just now fixed this up so that in the next v3 beta holding Alt will also suppress that one as well. You won't see this in action until the next beta release though.

Hope that clarifies, please let me know if I did not understand properly.

Thank you Michael, that clears it up.
I mostly leave snaps on, except Grid gets deselected a lot.

Hi Brian, yup usually it's good to leave both Object Snap and Straight Snap on most of the time.

But sometimes when you're drawing curves you might find that you can't place a point quite in a location that you might want for shaping the curve because it's snapping to other points in that general neighborhood. If that happens then holding down Alt is a quick remedy for that, since it only disables the snapping while the key is held down and will return to regular operation once you release the Alt key.
