Intel HD Graphics Problem

Hello,

I updated to the latest beta on my Asus B121 slate and something seems to be messed up with the video. Curves draw correctly as far as I can tell but any 3d displays as black and then crawls to a stop. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi OSTexo, you might try updating to the latest graphics driver available directly from Intel and see if that helps.

It might be that your video card does not have enough video memory available to it for handling the new multi-core enabled drawing.

What video card do you have exactly?

If you go to moi.ini (under Options > General > Edit .ini file button) you can set DisplayThreadLimit=1 under the [View] section to disable the new multi-threading display, that should then consume less video memory if that was what the problem was.

Is that a multi-core machine but with a lower-end video card?

Hello,

That .ini change did the trick, thanks. Here are the slate specs:

Hello,

Display is still broken. Grey background turns white while objects turn black with blue outlines.

Hi OSTexo,

You mean after setting DisplayThreadLimit=1 ?

Did you try updating your video driver to the latest release?

Hi OSTexo, also maybe one possibility is that you were quite close to running out of video memory before and with some of the changes MoI is now consuming somewhat more video memory even when you disable the multi-core use. That's something that I should be able to roll back in the next beta for the case where multi-core is turned off, but you may also want to look in your BIOS settings and see if there is a setting there for how much memory to devote to the GPU. If it's set to the absolute bare minimum try adjusting that upwards so that the GPU is not quite as limited in its memory use and see if that makes a difference.

Hello Michael,

I'll try tweaking some settings in BIOS and letting you know what happens, thanks.
