Bonjour Christian - I don't believe that Euclid has been developed for quite some time now so it will likely be quite difficult to find other software that can read and write its native file format (which I guess is your .XDB? I am not familiar with XDB myself).

According to here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euclid_%28computer_program%29 it says that BRL-CAD is able to import from the Euclid file format, so maybe there is some possibility to use BRL-CAD as a way to transfer it to STEP or something.

Hello Christian,
I´m facing the same problem, have to convert some old Euclid files to STP or IGS format but can´t find a converter, could you tell me how you solved it?
Thanks in advance for your help,

Regards,

Agustin

I downloaded Brl-Cad, but it is not a very friendly program. There is some (obtuse) pdf documentation.
It seems to consist of 3 programs.
MGED is the geometry editor.
RtWizard is for ray trace.
Archer is for ?

One of the several pdf manuals gives command line instructions to convert from a Euclid database: euclid-g i (Euclid_db filename) o (brlcad_db filename).
The option "i" is for input file. The option "o" is for output file

Finally found the program euclid-g.exe, in the BrlCad .bin folder. It produces a command line box for typing in instructions.
Not sure where the input and output files go, maybe in the .bin folder? ...

Hi Brian, that sounds promising! Agustin that is probably your best bet since it will be quite difficult to find support for Euclid files.

> Not sure where the input and output files go, maybe in the .bin folder? ...

Probably they can go anywhere if you give the full path in the filename (try putting " " around the filename if there are any space characters in it). But if you don't have a full path and just put in the filename by itself usually a command line program will use the current directory. So yeah putting the input file to translate in the same .bin folder may be easiest.
