Dividing surfaces with curves?

Hello. Just checking out the ptrogram and it's really awesome.

The only problem is that I've project some curves onto a sphere and would like to have the surfaces seporated. For example, in the image, there's a polygon projected to a sphere. I'd like the face of the polygon to be separate so that I can do things such as insets and stuff, but I can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I've tried a few of the booleans which sort of work, but don't give the exact results I am looking for.

Here's the image.

Thanks.

better if you post the 3dm file ;)

Trim and "keep" and copy move the face ? You can after make some extrude following direction inside the sphere etc...
Depending of what do you want exactly, view inside the sphere or not etc...

Hi Dreamcube017 - yup like Pilou says you want to use the Edit > Trim command for that kind of surface-level cutting. It will slice only the surface of your object up into pieces instead of working at a solid volume level like the booleans are targeted at.

See here for a previous example similar to what you are describing and some description on how to use Trim:
