Just wondering, am I missing something here or is it a bit tedious . .
This is the scenario.
I have a file with 4 objects.
To move some elements from one "object1" to another object say, "object3" I selected the items and then type in the info box in top right hand corner the name ("object3") this then puts the items on that object layer. If i accidentally mis type the name so its not the same as the one existing then another object will be created. Well this is the way I do it.

Is there another way to move items between layers? I am fully aware i could be doing it wrong but i dont see it . . . .

Hi Matt yeah I am planning on adding some more controls to the scene browser to make assigning more objects to the same name to be easier, something like a pop out menu that will have a "Assign to this name" menu item on it that would help with that.

In the meantime there is a plug-in that can help with that right now - it will add a command called AssignName which pops up a dialog that has all the existing object names in it so that you can then double click one to assign to the selected objects.
