The new preserve tangent sweep option is pretty much for when you're trying to do a half-shape sweep that you want to mirror without any crease. So that's mostly useful for some special situations.

The scaling rail is a more general purpose shaping tool. You can kind of imagine it as a way to stretch out each sweep profile until it hits that curve.

You should be able to use the scaling rail to do things that would have previously required putting in a bunch of different sized section curves.
