you can make or take any polygons humans from any 3D prog (http://www.makehuman.org/ for free build your perfect hero! ;)
make some decimation http://meshlab.sourceforge.net/ and import it inside Moi!
No need Tspline or Subd surf ;)

And if you want a very free heavy complex model or a part of it (16 millions polys) so some decimation will be necessary!
Delete all the internal body! ;)

I guess by "make some decimation http://meshlab.sourceforge.net/" you can some how use meshlab to reduce the number of faces?

I've only used meshlabs to check for holes :)

This inspires me for a crazy Moi feature idea that is way too implausible to ever exist.

A command that can take two or more surfaces and rebuild them into a new single contiguous one (within reason). That way (Pilou), you could take the SketchUp models and smooth out those "polys".

wait, wait... If you export a multi-surface face NURBS into a poly/Sub-D modeler, apply a little smoothing, then Power-NURBS could work it's magic, and back to MoI. (the wheels turn)

Sure for an organic model but for other nature of object that can be possible :)

It is feasible to have a surface combine tool, but only for the case where 2 surfaces are touching each other along an "untrimmed" edge - meaning having each underlying surface touch each other.

If they touch at some kind of internal trim curve it's not very feasible to combine them together because every NURBS surface is made up of a rectangular grid of control points and it's not very easy to figure out some way to combine together 2 unaligned rectangular grids into one single rectangular grid.

Kind of but it tends to generate wiggly and undulating results, so it's not all that useful as-is.

Also it needs to be given a parameterization, basically an initial starting surface that is then basically deformed to interpolate the given points in the point cloud. The only really easy automatic starting surface is a best fit plane, but that doesn't work very well for point clouds that have some kind of complex 3D shape in them.

You generally can't fit just a single surface to some complex arbitrary point cloud as it may have various complex branches in it, usually such things have to be fit with a sequence of surface patches and not just one surface.

Well, thats basically what Power subd nurbs is doing here..... I called them and it can be licensed for something like $25,000 to start......

So, thats like 250 of us putting $100.00 into the kitty... Who's with me boy's!!!!!

A little remark : for me it's works only if you save your object .obj inside the folder "Plugins" of Sketchup else nothing append !

Indeed.

TSplines inside Fusion



I have been testing Fusion on the mac for some time now and to be honnest Autodesk once again failed to impress me.
It even crushes by importing simple DWG files, I can open the same DWG with ViaCad that costs $39 :(
I hope the improve perfomance in the future.

But then again Modo 601 + SubD-NURBS is the biggest fiasco ever.

IMO. If Michael ever considers to bring subs modelling into MoI is gonna be game over for the rest of them.
