Im trying to work out how I can get the backpack, which has flat sides to be be curved so it matches the surface it is attached to?

the first thing that comes to mind is to sweep the red profiles using the green edges as rails. You might need another profile midway (dotted line). A network surface may work as well using the same edges

come to think of it, you might want to sweep the green edges, using the red ones as rails.
