Hi all.

run into some trouble on a model, so I thought I would go through all the functions in the help file, to have a better understanding , rather then just try to do every thing with a small subset of tools :)
not sure how to get the most out of Blend,
this is from the help file.

I thought that looks simple enough, but here is what I get

I think i'm missing a step?

Hi Steve,

By the look of your image, model would of been better, I'm assuming that when you extruded or made the cylinders that they were capped, meaning that they are solids, 'Blend' is a tool for surfaces so if you pick an edge of a solid cylinder there are two surfaces that share one edge, 'Blend' doesn't know which surface you want to come off and 9 out of 10 it'll pick the surface edge you don't want resulting in the image you have.

so if they are solid cylinders delete the end cap and try 'Blend' again.

Cheers

Hi steve - also on your particular case there did you happen to adjust the "Bulge" slider all the way to the left? That kind of looks like the result you'd get if you had done that - when you slide the bulge slider to the left it basically reduces the influence of the blending and a very low bulge value will look like the kind of result you have there.

It can help a lot to post a 3DM model file along with your question, because that then allows for various kinds of examinations of your model which are not really possible to do just by looking at a screenshot.

- Michael

I think you're right Michael it must be the Bulge slider, if you do a blend on solid cylinders you get a 'blobby' thing happening, which looks pretty good if you're doing organic stuff :)

Hi All

Yes I did use solids, I'll try again.

the cylinders was me just trying to replicate the the examples in the moi docs.
I put my model I was having trouble with on hold for now and am going to spend a few weeks working through the many MoI tutorials online :)

Cheers, Steve

P.S using surface cylinders worked. thanks :)
