There is a new Mac OSX beta build available here:
http://moi3d.com/osxbeta.htm

This is a public beta release and does not require a license key. This beta expires on Jun-19-2012 .

There are various improvements and fixes from the previous beta, including:

- Native OSX file open and save dialogs.
- Proper OSX file names and file paths shown anywhere a file name is displayed.
- Copy and Paste working now.
- OSX style shortcut keys using the Cmd key are set up by default.
- 3D viewport graphics display should work now even on machines with old video cards.
- You can now open multiple windows by using the "MoI > New Window" from the top app menu.

There are still some known bugs that I am working on, like:
- Cmd+Q does not work for quitting
- Drag/drop on to the MoI icon works for one file but not the second file
- Display flickers when switching viewports or resizing the main window.

Please let me know how if it's working ok for you or not!

Thanks,
- Michael

this is asking for a license number in order to download, is this separate from the trial?

I just downloaded it. It did not ask me for a number. It runs just fine and I like the new dialogs. More to come...

Hi rhadiem,

You're probably seeing the previous version of that page which your web browser has cached. Try pushing the Reload button there, or use F5 or Ctrl+F5 which usually will refresh the page by making your browser fetch the latest version of it.

Also here is a direct link just to the download itself:

Hi Michael

In this OSX version, where do I copy scripts, I like using the CustomDistance script.

Cheers, Steve

Hi Steve,

Right-click on the application and choose "Show Package Contents" - that will then open up a Finder window that is browsing the directory structure in there and then go to drive_c/moi/commands - that commands directory is where you can copy plug-in commands like CustomDistance.

Hi Michael, I just tried it. It's wonderful to see the native OS X file dialogs. You also seem to have fixed this CMD-TAB app switching bug. I wasn't able to reproduce it.

When I started the app I saw this warning:

I was brave and allowed it but I wonder what this is and if I can dissallow it.

Thanks a lot for the new version,

Martin

Hi Martin, hmmm I don't really know what that is about - MoI itself does not try to contact anything over the network. WineskinX11 is part of the porting infrastructure that I'm using to make things work, maybe it is using some kind of socket connections between different pieces.

Or it may have something to do with this anti-hacking protection mechanism thing that this version has on it since it's more like a trial version and does not require a license key.

If it's that second thing then in the final release version that won't be present.

For now I guess you'll need to hit "Allow" though. It looks like you only need to do that once though, it doesn't bother you any more after that does it?

If Wine(skin) is anything like Parallels, Vmware etc, I guess this is just the Wine VM core asking for the normal connectivity to the network that your Mac will have so that things like browsers etc and any program that needs to be accessible from anywhere other than your host Mac.

Hi Martin, I guess from what I can see that is complaining about some of the methods that MoI uses for communicating between some various sub programs that it uses for different tasks.

You may see another one pop up that says something about moi_osx_funcs.app - that's the piece that implements the native file dialogs.

So if you see those firewall warnings pop up you'll need to hit allow on them for MoI to be able to function properly, and I think once you have done that once it seems to remember that and won't bother you again.

Hi Chris,

> If Wine(skin) is anything like Parallels, Vmware etc, I guess
> this is just the Wine VM core

Wine is not quite the same kind of system as Parallels and VMWare - Wine doesn't actually run a full "virtual machine" - it's more like a compatibility library that translates Windows calls into their unix equivalents.

It doesn't really emulate a full machine environment, it only does anything when MoI makes a Windows system call.

Parallels and VMWare are pretty different - they actually run a full copy of Windows in a completely virtualized environment.

Seems like I can turn that off.

I went to System Preferences > Security > Firewall > Advanced and turned on "Block incoming connections" for WineskinX11

MoI starts without problems so it seems to be not required to allow incoming connections.

I guess this message shows up only if the OS X firewall is activated and you start MoI for the first time.
I think I also saw this message with the previous Beta because there was a second WineskinX11 entry in the Firewall settings. Also set to "allow". I blocked both.

What is the process to resize the whole window? I'm not able to by clicking and dragging lower-right corner.

---update----
Force quit and then launched again. Works OK now.

Michael... You are unbelievable! Moi looks amazing on OSX, It feels like you developed a native OSX app!. Everything is very snappy, viewports are smooth and fast, there are occasional display glitches when e.g. turn on the browser or switch viewports, but that is not even annoying:) I have one of these "27 inch iMacs and MoI rocks:) hehe I am very happy man! Thank you.

Please let me know if you run into this resizing problem again.

Also right now resizing the window is a little stuttery/glitchy and I'm going to see if I can tune it up a bit.
