Very cool Paul!

I use MoI a lot not only with my custom injection molded plastic components, but for fixtures as well. For off the shelf items, I download a lot of STEP files from the McMaster-Carr website for nuts and bolts, plates, clamps etc. that we order from them, so it's pretty nice to have the component catalog number so when I am done, the engineer can order parts while I am finishing up the custom portion of the fixtures to be machined, etc.

MoI is an absolute must have tool!

That's a great quality sketch result, especially for the small amount of time put into it.

That was one of the big ideas for MoI - trying to make it easier to crunch geometry out quickly so you could get prototypes and ideas out in some kind of concrete form. So I'm really glad that you have been able to use it for this purpose.

Oh, that was implemented in version 1 as an easter egg, you just need to know the special shortcut key to enable it. Hmmm, what was it - I can't remember... ;)

I did this all in MOI3D other than the render, no post, cuz I am lazy. I saw in another thread someone posted a ring so I decided to make one. It turns out proportions really matter if you want to get that light back out like a real diamond. Cheers!

Without revealing what I actually do, which is not secret but private. I am involved with research using diamonds, specifically Nitrogen-Vacancy (NV) diamond experiments. These are actually little defects or color centers that can be used as clocks and magnetometers, of course they are not like the rings you would where but carefully grown substrates with special properties. This is a new and exciting field with lots of potential.
