Hi Michael:

cannot I solve a fillet because it doesn't generate me a good result?
which the appropriate selection of elements is?
they are single edges or surfaces or both

Best regards

Juan Galvan

Hi Juan, can you please post the .3dm model file for your fillet problem?

For doing a fillet, there are different results depending on the selection.

If you select 2 curves that are not edges, you will do a curve fillet between them.

If you select a single curve that has corners (for example a rectangle), you will do a curve fillet on the corners.

If you select edges, those edges will fillet.

If you select surfaces of a joined object, all the edges that belong to that surface will fillet.

If you select an entire object, all its edges will fillet.

The last case if you select 2 surfaces that are separate surfaces not joined to anything else - in this case it will do what is called a surface/surface fillet.

If you can post a model file it would help me undertand what is happening.

- Michael

Seems your frame rectangle has some internal intricated complex forms :)
So filet can't follow the entiere curves!
From your existing frame you can make that Select all "up surface facetts" / delete it / Select all / Make planar / Now select the new "facett up"/ Filet works :)

Hi Jani, yes as Pilou mentions the extra internal edges of your top and bottom surfaces tends to confuse the fillets.

In general the more edges that you have running together at any point, the more likely it is that the filleter will get confused. It doesn't take too much to confuse it...

I've attached here an updated version of your frame that will now fillet.

To make this version, I selected the surfaces from the top side and deleted them, and then did Construct/Planar to fill in the resulting hole with a single simple planar surface. Then repeat on the other side.
