Wow!
Hi Micheal, i found MOI a few day ago and i must say it's absolutly awesome!!
When i think how fast it is possible to model complex objects, i can't imagine that.
right now i try to use MOI for some complex objects. The Boole-function is great!
Absolutly perfect mesh. No bugs in the mesh. Dreamy! The Fillet-function.
Ever wanted to have something like this.
This is a scrennshot from my first serious try.

I need it for things like this:

(not done with moi, done with Cinema and renderd with FinalRender2)

And i think in the future i will need it for nearly everything. :-)
Do you know what we'll have to pay for it when it's ready?

Janne

Found MOI, LOVE MOI, will buy MOI

Hi Janne, that's a fantastic result from your first serious try!

Those are also some great renderings and models that you've done in Cinema4D - so much detail! It looks like MoI should be useful for modeling a lot of those pieces.

The high quality n-gon mesh export should make MoI a nice companion to Cinema...

Did you notice that you can do a boolean operation between a solid and a planar curve? I mean for instance if you want to boolean away a circular hole all the way through the object you can just do the boolean using the circle instead of needing to extrude to a cylinder. You'll still need to extrude for cuts that do not go all the way through the object, but for ones going all the way through that can save some time.

> Do you know what we'll have to pay for it when it's ready?

It will be around US $200.

I'm glad that you like MoI!

- Michael

I agree, those are some seriously impressive results both on the modeling and rendering for your first as you said "serious" try with Moi. This is real nice! :)

Please keep on posting more.

This one looks good too! I love seeing the results of just a short period of time spent.

Oh, thanks, nice to hear.
But, did you noticed that the clocks-renderings are not made with Moi?

:-))
Don't panik. I've done most parts with Splines. Only the watchcase is polymodelled.

And here ist a few more clockwork. Here i used completly MOI. Love it. It is so easy to use. And fast!!
Now i think i'am "King Booly" :-)))

[Edit]

Ok, here is a little Rendering with FinalRender.

This is the viewing in the later coming onlineshop.
There you can configurate your own watch. Hands, belt and so on. Then you get a 360°-turnaround with 8 single frames.
(ok the background will be another.)

Hi michael,
it would be nice to have some kind of scene tree, or a HUD indicator, that would show which objects are history dependant, and which would allow to select the 'parent' curves for it.

Hi Moka, this would definitely work well in a scene/object tree type display. But it will take quite a bit of time to develop that so I don't expect to have that until version 2.0.

In the meantime, I'll see if I can add some scripting methods so that it would be possible to set up a keyboard shortcut that will select the parent curves of an object.

That would be nice indeed!

I also find myself wishing I could store the source curves into their own layer or a way to seperate them - right now I just delete them when I don't think I need them any longer.

Ok, I've added a new script method for the next beta that makes it possible to retrieve the history parents or children of an object.

This will make it possible to set up a keyboard shortcut with this command:

code:
script:var gd = moi.geometryDatabase; var objs = gd.getSelectedObjects(); gd.deselectAll(); for ( var i = 0; i < objs.length; ++i ) { var parents = objs.item(i).getHistoryParents(); parents.setProperty( 'selected', true ); }

If you have an object selected, that will switch selection to all the parents that were input into the making of that object. So for example if you select a lofted surface, after you run that script the original curves that went into the loft will be selected.

You can also do the reverse by editing the above and swapping getHistoryParents() with getHistoryChildren().

Again, this won't work until the next beta, which hopefully will be finished in not too many more days here.
