Great news!!

Hi Michael, this is wonderful news! Especially ycarry's tests with Snow Leopard on MacBook, which is the combination I have, sound very promising. As Jeff mentions, do I have to purchase a v2 license first in order to make a test? You not happen to have a trial of this.. I guess not.. well if the GFX is the same I am ready to jump!

Hello ycarry, may I ask you the favor to verify that your MacBook has the same graphics as mine? You can find the info in the System Profiler > Graphics/Display. That would be super kind!

Thanks a lot both of you!
Chyman

@chyman.. i'm curious to see how(if) it would run on a 13" mbp or air..
those integrated graphics give all sorts of problems with sketchup and rhino osx..

fwiw, if i were beta_ing, it'd be on a MacPro 1,1 2.66xeon w/ 8800gt and a MacBookPro 6,2 15" 2.66 i7 w/ 330M
both running 10.7.2
i'm also testing rhino osx (for the past 2 years) and am a sketchup veteran :)

I'm not even a MAC user and I have to say WOW Michael!

I'm happy for you cause I know a lot of folks were asking for MoI to be native on the MAC platform - looks like you'll have a whole new set of users now - congrats!

-Will

<not sure if the newer 13">

You are affraid of the size of the screen?
Moi has a tricky system of reduction of UI !

So like a phone screen :) here size 1/1

no, not scared of the screen size exactly..
it's just that the small screened macs don't have good graphics cards in them.. if you want to use a laptop for moiosx, you'll more likely than not need a 15" or 17" MacBookPro to run it properly. (as is the case with other 3D apps i use)

Hi Michael,

running it on my iMac 27in Snow Leopard.

Overall looking great. Need more time to play

Just to let you know having issues with copy and paste not working via ctr C and ctr V and via menu.

Unusual using the CTR rather than CMD key on Mac. Having Issues assigning keys using the Cmd key

Great news!! I have been waiting for this for a while. I hope all the mac users that have been begging for this buy a copy to justify your efforts to finally bring MOI to the Macintosh platform.
I can't thank you enough.

Could you briefly expalin how the licensing is going to work for the Mac? If I buy a PC license now to test the beta, will I have to purchase another Mac copy when 3 is released? Is buying a license now be good for both Mac/PC?

I would love test the beta, but are unsure on how to proceed on purchaseing a copy in reguards to the V3 release.
I have no problem buying V2 now and paying for the V3 upgrade, but just didn't want to get stuck buy a whole new license for mac when I already purchased the PC version.
Could I get some advise on how to make my purchase?

Michael,

FYI

I Loaded up both my egg Blender and gun mount models I created on my PC into MoI Mac Version and exported the Objs to C4D to render.

I experienced no issues during this process :)

WOW !!!

I don't have a v2 licence so I can't beta test, I stopped upgrading to v2 after i went all mac couple of years ago and was so tired of using windows for just Moi, but this just makes my year, how well is it running, are there any performance issues?

If this works, I will be recommending all my students to use Moi, the students all use macs, and have been using Rhino Beta on mac, which well is ... not .. good...

Hi JBartley,

With v3 you'll be able to use either the Mac or the Windows version, or both, with the same license.

The way the licensing works currently with v2 is that you can install the same license on multiple machines that you own as long as you have only actively launched it on one of them at a time.

That will apply just the same for v3, you'll be able to use the same license key on either a Windows or Mac install.

I'm not exactly sure how the order process will work, it's possible that there may be 2 separate order pages for a mac version or pc version since it may not be very easy for me to make the order system give out 2 download links in the same single order. If it ends up that way then there will be some other page that you can go to do download the other version.

Well, the mac version is going to be for v3. If you purchase a v2 license right now you can use the v3 beta release until the beta period is over but then you would need to purchase a v3 upgrade license (which will most likely cost $100) to get the full v3 release version. You don't automatically get v3 if you purchase v2 right now.

So yeah you'll need to pay for the v3 upgrade version but you will not need to purchase a complete full new license.

Basically I don't plan to have any different kinds of licenses for Windows or Mac, they will both use the exact same licenses and you'll be able to download either a Windows installer or a Mac version installer whichever you need (or both) and you will be able to use the same license key on either of those installers.

- Michael
