Importing stp from MoI into Alibre

Over on the Alibre forum, under using MoI, bigseb posed an import issue for a MoI 3dm, exported as a step file.
After much puzzlement, I posted a proceedure to import said step file, if anyone is interested.
I was suprised that it imported as an assembly. (I think.)

I think I've heard before that Alibre doesn't like to have curve objects in some file types that it imports, so it may help to get just the one surface/solid piece that you want to transfer in the file and not have anything else in it.

One way to do that is to select the thing you want, and then use File > Export from MoI - Export in MoI only writes the selected objects to the file, unlike "Save As" which writes everything to the file.

Thank you Michael.
(I wondered why file export did not seem to do anything. (I had not selected anything.))

As he did a year ago, Ralf3 (re-)explained several items, on the Alibre forum. q.v. :-)
