When I installed Moi3D at work I got this error when clicking on almost any command. The one in the attachement was when I was trying to make a freeform curve. The Moi3d I installed on my home computer works fine.
My work machine has the latest version of java installed.
Computer setup. Athalon 4600 x2, win xp service pack 2, 3 GB ram, Geforce 7600 gt 256 MB ram video

Has anyone else been getting this problem.

I haven't heard of this exact problem, but I've heard of something similar that was caused by an IE7 upgrade that didn't install quite correctly.

The other problems were solved by doing a reset of IE7 settings.

To do this, go to IE7 Tools menu, Internet Options, Advanced Tab and click on the Reset button near the bottom of the page. Here is a blog post that shows this: http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2006/06/12/628499.aspx

Please let me know if this solves the problem or not.

Actually MoI doesn't use Java - it uses JavaScript. Although it seems like they should be related since they are named so similarly, they are actually totally different things...

Hi Michael,

>>Actually MoI doesn't use Java - it uses JavaScript

Your remark puzzle me. I thought MoI used Microsoft's JScript for scripting. Although, it would clarify some situations when my DIY :) script doesn't work properly. So, what language does MoI use, actually?

Yes, it uses JScript. But JScript is the JavaScript language - it is Microsoft's implementation of JavaScript / ECMAScript.

For example if you get a book on programming "JavaScript", you can use it as a reference for programming "JScript" as well, they are the same specification.

You could use VBScript if you want for script files, just use the .vbs file extensio for the script file. But JScript is used for little script fragments that are not in their own file, like a script: keyboard shortcut.

Are you running any kind of anti-virus or anti-spyware software on your system?

Is it possible to disable it temporarily and see if that is interfering?

Ok, one other thing that might help narrow this down - when MoI is maximized, please hold down the Ctrl key and click on the little "MoI" title label that is in the upper-right corner of the screen, next to the minimize/maximize/close buttons.

That will bring up a debug menu - choose "Show Log", and in the log window, please select all the text, Ctrl+C and then Ctrl+V into a message here.

If something has failed to run as expected, it is possible that there may be some clues written to the log that may help with the diagnosis.

this seems to have fixed it

"HereĀ“s my first post!
I am using Windows XP with Internet Explorer 6.0.2800.1106 with SP1 and a few updates
(last was Q330994).
I fixed this issue by clicking on "Start Menu" - "Run", and entering the following
entries on command prompt:

regsvr32 msscript.ocx [enter]
regsvr32 dispex.dll [enter]
regsvr32 vbscript.dll [enter]

That worked fine for me...Bye!"

Great! Thanks for reporting back here, that will help me next time someone runs into this.

That means that somehow your system registry got a bit garbled and was missing the information for the scripting engines.

Thanks for everybodies help and suggestions.

Micheal
Program looks very good for a beta release. I always thought Rhino was great since it had followed the Autocad type workflow that I was used to. We tried a few things quickly at work in Moi3D and converted for use in Lightwave seem to work great. I really like the mesh density slider when saving (sim to rhino)
I know you will be bombarded with feature comments so i will hold off untill i test it a little more.
