Bug Report

Michael, I have had my first moi bug report (assert failed), in MoIBetaAugust2011
I was not doing much.
There seems to be a problem when changing views, and then trying to do a command that wants a start point.
I opened drillbit cross section, then changed view from split to right.
Then selected line command, and got the error. It is reproducible.
(Do not get an error in Moi2.)
Sincerely, Brian McMillin

Please describe what you were doing when this happened.
Any additional info you can provide will help in tracking down and solving this problem.

Thank you for sending this report.

(My email bug popup declined to work, guess microsoft version expired.)

Edit, Also, load the file, select line command, and mouse over the various split views, error occurs.

Well, nevermind, I think the cross section file is corrupt.

Hi Brian, thanks for reporting this bug.

This is a bug in the processing of curve intersections for intersection object snap. So it can potentially happen in anything that picks a point.

I've got it fixed up now for the next v3 beta.

It's actually a bit different than a regular crash bug - this one is a warning that something was not structured as expected in the intersection results. But it actually happens that the messed up result is not actually used so it is possible to just ignore this particular one - unlike a regular crash bug this kind of warning message popup has an "ignore all" button that you can push and you should actually be able to continue running MoI ok after doing that.

Also this is far more likely to be triggered when calculating the intersection on projected curves, so if you keep running into it you could turn off projected intersections until the next v3 beta. That's under Options > Snaps > Object snap options > "use apparent intersections".

Thanks,
- Michael

Hi Michael G.

The separate 3dm2dxf application does not seem to work with files saved in the beta v3 version in MoI. I re-opened the file in v2 and saved it, then ran the 3dm2dxf application and it converted fine.

Just thought I would point this out.

Hi Michael T - thanks for reporting this.

That's likely caused by a change that MoI v3 writes out Rhino v4 3DM files, and that tool will only read Rhino v3 3DM files.

At some point I'll either update that tool or make it unnecessary by having DXF export built in instead.
