Ver 3 Beta Flow function adds a lot of versatility. Engraved text on curved surfaces was possible before, but it took some work. Now it's easy.

The text intersects the base surface causing it to intersect the target surface. Boolean diff to create engraved text.

Hi Ed, that's a great result, I'm glad that this will be much easier now.

You can probably also imagine a lot of other kinds of patterns that will be easier to apply as well, stuff like Celtic knotwork or various similar things.

Hi Ed - one quick tip on more complex patterns - if you are able to try to avoid having the seam edge of a closed tubular type surface to be positioned so that it is at the side of the tube and sort of skimming right along the surface. That kind of "skimming edge" situation is also more difficult for booleans to deal with similar to skimming surfaces.

So if you happen to notice when creating some tube work that the seam edge of the tube is on the side, rotate your profile circle by 90 degrees so that you'll have the seam running along the top or bottom of the sweep. That will just avoid making the boolean mechanism having to do extra work.

I do expect that Flow will be particularly useful for jewelry in general.
