Upgrade!

It will probably be some time before any final version of V3 is released but you will want to be involved in the beta process. As V2 developed it just got progressively better and better and never had the problems of most betas being flaky ... Michael Gibson releases versions that WORK.

The upgrade cost is so low you just can't miss all the great tools.

Hi Mike,

i was in the same situation last month when thinking about updating now or waiting till v3 arrives. I decided to update finally and i don't regret it. It's so much better with the very handy "layers" palette and also the many scripts available which will only run in v2, beside the other new features. And like already said, i also like to participate when the v3 Beta is available, assuming this will be available for v2 users, same as v2 was for v1 users.

Just to clarify - it's the v3 beta release which will be coming out soon - not the final release. It will be quite a while yet before the full new v3 version is completed.

Hi Anis - the plan is to just release it when it is ready, once I have got some new features done. But I don't know the exact date for when that will happen.

The UI overhaul is pretty much all done now though, so I will be switching now to work on some new features and when I've got a few done then I'll release the first v3 beta.

For the next step I want to update to the latest version of the geometry library, since that will bring some new functionality that will probably help to make some new features. But updating the geometry library is a fairly complex process and I have to test it carefully to try and make sure that there aren't any regressions. It is difficult to know in advance how long that will take - maybe 1 day, maybe 2 weeks...

I do hope to have it out pretty soon though.
