And it's out - http://moi3d.com/beta.htm - linked to from the download page.

Brief overview:

New Flow command (Transform > Deform > Flow, no icon yet) for deforming objects from one "backbone" to another, see previous examples in this thread.

New selection indicator in the scene browser - shows a yellow dot on the right hand side to show if an item has selection or not, also now click on that spot to select or deselect things in the scene browser. Also you can use Ctrl+click on that same spot to set a selection filter which is also new.

Major overhaul to many internals - the UI is now based off of WebKit/JavaScriptCore instead of mshtml.dll/JScript.dll , updated to new OpenNURBS v5 library for reading 3DM files - this enables reading of Rhino v5 files and should round trip stuff like extended layer properties to Rhino v4 better. Also updated to the newest release of the Solids++ geometry library which has some various bug fixes in it. There may be some regressions due to all this various library churn, let me know if something that worked in v2 doesn't seem to work in v3.

Downloaded and installed...
Now let's play. :-)

I've been using MoI for almost five years now and it's always been a pleasant experience.
Thanks Michael for making MoI such a joy to use.

Is it able to start up and appear to run normally on your systems?

There have been a lot of changes in this version to how the UI and script system works internally, so it would not be too surprising if there were some glitches to work out.

Ultimately though having more of the UI code more self contained like it is now will help with stability in the long run since there will be less variation between systems.

Looks good so far here.. I did all my custom additions and I view no difference...

Just reviewing the sidepane.htm at the moment.. It seems to handle "icon" a little different???

The text in the line does appear slightly changed. I will poke around and ask if I cant figure it out...

On my system it seems to run normal. It took the options from V2, so that my first thought was, I have installed v2.

Didn´t find out how flow functions.

Hehe !
I've never been very far. ,-)
Most of the time I'm reading the posts on the forum as a guest but I never stopped to use MoI and it's really cool to start a new beta period.

Right now I'm trying the new flow command...

(Re : >> I can tell you that variable radius fillet has been requested quite a lot so I do expect to work on that.)
Great !!!

I was looking for the announcment.. gbing just went to download page and... RATS... Foiled again... Someday.. Someday...Gotta be quick in THIS forum!!!

Michael,
This line seems to no longer present the image listed as the source in the plugin gallery..

<moi:PushButton command="ToroidalHelix">
img width="160" height="120" src="helix.JPG"
div ToroidalHelix div
Creates a helix.
</moi:PushButton>

Is there a change to have the image displayed??

I made a couple changes to the line I had been inserting into the sidepane.htm, to have it match the others and it worked OK. Just removed a "style" and couple other little differences...

Hi Rudl,

That's good news - that's how it is supposed to work.

> Didn´t find out how flow functions.

You've got to set up both a base backbone curve (usually this will be a line), and then a target curve to use as the new backbone.

Start by selecting the objects that you want to modify. Then run the Flow command, pick the base backbone curve and then pick the target one.

Check out the attached flow_example.3dm file.

Load up the file and then select just the text so that it looks like this:

Then run Transform > Deform > Flow, then click on the line, then click on the wiggly curve above and you should get this result:

You can kind of think of the original line as a "starting spinal column" for the text. The flow command allows you to map objects between a starting spine to a different shaped spine. You can also map between surfaces, with a starting plane mapping to a bendy surface.
