Hi Michael,

Would you be thinking of building the toolset yourself, or integrating T-Splines in as a plugin? T-Splines have patents on the technology they use so it would be interesting to know what exactly this prevents other developers from working on.

I don't really have a specific plan either way right now, because either one of those options each involve quite a bit of work.

As a 3rd party plug-in it still requires quite a bit of support work on my part to explain to other developers how things work and to support them, answer questions, provide documentation, help debug problems, also to probably develop a more comprehensive plug-in system that would allow more directly integrated C++ plugins instead of just script code ones. That's a lot of stuff for me to attempt to do while simultaneously trying to develop more regular end-user features for MoI as well...

They license their technology as a toolkit, so that's one possible way to incorporate it.

There are also a couple of other libraries from other companies that have some kind of similar functionality for converting sub-d control cages to NURBS but without the T-juncture mechanism that is specific to T-splines.
