Yes, but Thomas' face isn't really a face - it's two eyes, a nose (sorta) and a mouth.

I would say this could be done in NURBS without too many problems. Try a picture of the face from each perspective - maybe buy a Thomas toy and use this for your reference pictures?

Hi Aaron, even though it's a simplified face, it's still got the overall issue of having very kind of "melted together" features within in it. Also because it's not too complex it means that you'd be able to do it really quite quickly in Sculptris - that tool is just a better fit for this particular kind of shape.

Thanks Pilou,
I try downloading Sculptris but I keep getting the following message:
"This server can only be accessed by the proper referring server"
Anyone has an idea why I get that message?

Sounds like some kind of glitch in their web site.

You could try this other older location:

Scultris and Dr Peter were grabbed up by Pixologic. The download page is here:

This link provides a previous release, Alpha 3 instead of Alpha 5 but at least I can download it.
It is when I try to download the last version available, Alpha 5, that I get the message "This server can only be accessed by the proper referring server"
Thanks Michael,
Gaston

Alpha 5 is Pixologic:

Go to the page I listed and clcik the download link in the first post of the thread...

Clciking on the link (As if I linked to the zip file from THIS forum, produces that error.. You have to clcik the link from the zbrush central forum.

Hi Burrman,
I followed this exact procedure and kept getting "This server can only be accessed by the proper referring server."
So I tried to download from a different computer and everything went as expected :?

Now I have two problem: learn Sculptris :o) and fix my computer :o( (I wish I knew where to start looking).
Thanks all,
Gaston

AH ok, for this sort of face you can use Moi, because it's a very stylized one!

Here is a Spain video of someone who modells Thomas the Train with Blender. The last part 4 is three days ago, perhaps he will do in the next part the face.

Hi Pilou,
You must already have a tutorial ready on how to do this, do you ;o)?
If not, how would you go about it?

Here the concept ;)

Project the first drawing on a sphere then follow the mini tut
All flat a little at the end if wanted

(all is only moi except the black color on the eyes ;)

Fair enough. I haven't actually tried Sculptris.
