Michael, a test file for you...

http://www.divshare.com/download/141229-dfa

The above link is a ZIP file (7MB) of a 24.7MB model. I want this model exported as obj or 3ds (I think 3ds is easier and smaller file) but this can't be done because MoI seems to freeze. Actually, when checking Task Manager->Applications then I see that Moi is not responding but in the Processes tab I see that Moi.exe is still moving (changing the number of used memory).
I am using a Dual P4 3GHz with 2G Ram so my system is not the problem.
I started with a bigger file (more cubes, size 80Mb). I was expecting this one to work.

P.S. Working with this file is very difficult unless you use one view at a time. Split mode reminds me of my 386 system...

Hi JTB, I'll take a look, but if moi.exe is still showing that it is taking CPU time in task manager, it is likely that it is still crunching away at calculating the meshes and just needs more time to finish.

Meshing is very processor-intensive, if you have a large model it is possible it may take quite a while to finish, possibly up to 10-15 minutes or so if it is very large. So probably just let it sit for a while longer.

I'll try to see if there is anything else going on though.

Hi JTB, over here if I wait for about 6 minutes (2.4 Ghz CPU) it finishes and you can successfully write a .3ds file.

So I think just some patience will do the trick! :)

But since in this case you've got 288 copies of the same object, you're probably better off just saving out one of them to .3ds and then doing the array in your target system.

Thanks Michael, nice to see that there is no problem

Actually,I could start modeling this in MAX from the begining, but I wanted to do some tests in Moi to see how it behaves...
Well, the other test had 1000 cubes...!
