Here's my take...

The program is actually Moment of Inspiration...

The mascot logo is a Moai: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moai

I live in Hawaii so I pronounce it as sounds like "Boy", as thats how it would be read here..

I heard Philbo do a video where he says like the french word for ME, so as sounds like "Paw"..

It's great to just have it be as you would like it to be, but since Michael has a Moai Mascot, I would assume his intention is as sounds like "Mow-Eye"

SO just so you know how you get Mow-Eye from Moai, heres how a Polynesian breaks out the pronunciation..

Mo-a-i
Mo-Ah-eeee

Said as s single word fast, sounds like the Mow-eye.

Hi Skwerm, yeah I've heard a lot of different variations... :)

But yeah like Burr mentions, since the mascot is a Moai (which came about as a kind of take-off on the abbreviated name) that's sort of the official way, like Mow - eye .

To me, I pronounce it "mwah", but that's maybe cause I speak French as well as English, and to me it just reads "me" instinctively. If it was an English type word, I probably wouldn't do that.

In fact now in French we say "Moye" (like in Toy ) must be like mo-aie as Polynesian but by habit that is "Moye" :)

I thought early on it was explained to me as pronounced "moo-eye". That's the way I have been pronouncing it. How ever you say it, it's a fantastic tool!

Hi Michael T,

> I thought early on it was explained to me as pronounced "moo-eye".

I think one of the early interviews that I did said it was like that, but I didn't get a chance to correct it.

I think I tried to initially explain it to the interviewer as "moe-eye", like Moe from the 3 stooges (Larry, Curley, etc...) but I think that got misinterpreted. I probably should have explained it as "mow-eye" like you are mowing the lawn as mentioned earlier in this thread, that would have been a bit clearer.

Anyway, luckily it doesn't matter how you pronounce it, it still works the same! ;)

Frenchy, do you do that for all words ending in -oi or just moi? For instance, fois, which to me is pronounced the same as moi (with a f rather than a m)?

hi Steve
No it's just for the Michael's prog : Moi ;)
(and of course not for the real French word moi ;)
We have not this sound like "toy" in French! :)

It's like you have a sort of bad English accent when you try to speak French!

So it's very exotic when we say Moi as "toy" , it's like a true gem weakness candy :)

Absolutly no offence in my words, because I am not genetically modified for speak English and even more for write it as I suppose you have discover that along all my posts! :)

Good one. That made me smile. Thanks, Pilou.

BTW, I thought MOI was either mwa, moy, m-o-i, or mow eye. Mystery solved.

I guess I'll start using (mow)moe-eye from now on instead of moo-eye. Thanks for the clarification Michael G.

Frenchy, you had me worried for a bit. I wondered which part of France you came from, lol.

Youre written English is good. My written French is not so good nowadays. I'm getting old and it's a long time since I lived in France.
