Numeric shortcut keys

Hi,

is there a way to differentiate between the numeric keys on top and the ones on the numeric block for shortcut keys? I have assigned the transformation commands to the numeric keys. I intended only to use the keys on top of the keyboard. But the keys in the numeric block also fire the commands. I thought of having a way to keep the num block keys for entering values without the need to press TAB first which is now the case.

Hi Malte, sorry no there isn't any way to make different behavior for a number at the top of the keyboard versus a number on the numpad, they are treated the same.

If you want to key in numeric values often, then you probably will want to avoid assigning shortcuts to a number key, although as you found you can push Tab first to put focus into an edit field. When an edit field has focus any numeric keystrokes will go to the field instead of triggering any shortcut that you may have assigned to it.

You could also use a modifier key like Ctrl+1 or Alt+1 instead of just plain 1...

Thanks Michael,

then maybe I rethink my shortcut assignments or stick with the Tab key for numeric input.
I wanted to avoid key combinations because I mostly press the keys only with my left hand while my right hand stays on the mouse or pen tablet. E.g. pressing Ctrl+7 can be a pain then. :o)
