SubDNURBS is a unique and revolutionary software library that can integrate with 3D modeling systems to provide advanced integration tools that are unavailable in other 3D modeling systems. If you want a competitive advantage that will yield a significant savings of time and money to your customers, SubDNURBS is the tool for you. The value of the SubDNURBS library can be viewed through several different work flow scenarios; as a NURBS Export Tool on a Sub-D System, as a Sub-D Import Tool on a NURBS System, as an enabling technology integrating Sub-D and NURBS in a hybrid modeling system. For more information on why integration of Sub-D and NURBS is so important look at the Sub-D/NURBS Background.

Hi neo, well it definitely sounds interesting! This is the first that I've heard of this new library from them.

interesting indeed Michael...it would be great if they include SubDNURBS into SOLIDS++.

can you have access to it?

Now that is very nice!

I was recently wondering how to make vector profiles of subd models...

Looks like a great solution to merge the respective advantages of Sub-D and NURBS. Perhaps an extra-cost option integrated into MoI someday?

That would be cool! Right now it looks like they have it set up as a kind of separate library, I don't know if they plan to include it directly in Solids++ or not.

Definitely a lot of potential for the future there.

Hi NightCabbage,

> do you know that the Gem thing is?

I think that's the name they're giving to a set of new libraries that they are developing.

I see they have 2 distinct licensing options... A monthly fee and a one time payment! Maybe somebody with a ton of doe will buy Michael an unlimited developers license and we can get this as an Import option!!! :o

Maybe Integrityware will recognize that Michael is "cutting edge" integrating the poly/NURBS world and "Give him a license Gratis", as a Marketing tool for their product!!! ???? :o

I wonder if this process could also make possible a nurbs to subd meshing...

Hi Marc,

Likely it won't - that is a really different kind of a thing since that has to deal not just with regular surfaces all by themselves, it also has to deal with trim curves that are marking various holes in the surfaces.
