How do I get get text onto a curved surface? Projection doesn't get me where I want as I think I need to arrange the text in a circular pattern first.

Hi ugotaccpaced, yes you will need to rotate each character into position in the top view, then you can extrude them and boolean the main shape with the extruded letter.

In the future I do want to add tools for warping objects including text.

My method was to create a 24 sided polygon (since I had 20 text objects that wrapped around approximately 80% of the circumfrence) about the size of the base of the object. I would line up 1 text object at a time then rotate the whole thing 1 turn clockwise. Rinse and repeat.

Not perfect but I think good enough for what I am after.
