Hi there,
Nothing special, needed a change of scenery from what I was working on, looked in my left hand and decided to quickly model my SpaceNavigator :)
Rendered in Simlab.

Cheers

Excellent work. The metal on the render has come out really well :)

Really nice Danny. MoI and Simlab are a good pairing for this sort of thing I think.

Nyce!

Makes me want to go out and buy another one (and not return it this time; didn't have enough compatible apps at the time to make having one worth it for me...)

<cry....sniff...>

Danny, I was going to model that and upload it :-P.

Fine. I guess I'll model my espresso machine instead.

<sigh>

<real message now>

Danny:

was that quality render easy to setup in SimLab? I have downloaded the demo but i have not used it yet, waiting for my new computer to get here.

The renders that people are posting here look 500 times better than the ones that SimLab posts on their website and in their tutorials which i find rather strange. That discrepancy is what kept me away from Simlab long ago, but the MoI forums are converting me over.

How long have you been using SimLab?

Does your navigator model file have your construction geometry in it still? If so I would love to examine the file to see the approach that you used for creating the model.

take care.

Great looking model, Danny.

Does the SpaceNavigator replace the mouse, or is it used in conjunction with it?

Hi Don,

It can replace the mouse for view navigation tasks (like panning, zooming, rotating the view), but you still use the mouse in combination with it for various other stuff like selecting and drawing, etc...

Hi mshideler,

You can still post your version of the Spacenavigator, there's no rule that you can't :)

> was that quality render easy to setup in SimLab?

Very easy. Simlab uses the same render engine as Keyshot (Hypershot) by Luxion, the same quality
but you don't get the 'live view' render, but if you have a multicore processor in your box then the
previews are quick and even the renders are pretty quick if you are doing product shots like the one in this post.
Setting up a scene in Simlab is very user friendly as well.

> How long have you been using SimLab?

I think it's been about eight months now, Simlab is fairly new, I was using Hypershot before.

Unfortunately not all the construction geometry is there, just some basic curves,
as the post title says it was a quick one and I wasn't concerned about keeping all construction geometry.
I'd be glad to help out if you come to an area that you're having difficulty with.

Cheers and thanks for the comments guys.
