License key every time I start MOI

I have upgraded to V2 from a V1 edu license. I am prompted to input both my license keys each time I start MOI. Is this normal? It is a little aggravating to have to copy and paste each time I move back into MOI. I have resorted to leaving MOI open but minimized, but this is not an ideal solution.

Any thoughts? I'm sure I am just missing something obvious, but I can't find it.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Mike, that is not normal - something is not working correctly there.

Could you please contact me at moi@moi3d.com so I can send you a special debug version to try and track down what is happening?

I have heard of this problem from only 1 other user, and his problem mysteriously went away.

Try installing the program by right-clicking the installer and selecting "run as administrator".

As a backup, when you FIRST run the app after installation, right-click the Moi icon and select "run as administrator" again.

Win 7 and sometimes Vista is so annoying with all the new blab-ware that tries to prevent hacker takeover - usually it's just a major annoyance for regular day use.

I was trying to simply save a text file using notepad to my USB key the other day and it wouldn't let me! I had to save the file first to My Documents and then copy it over (which then again asked for admin permission).

The only other option would be for me to run Notepad as the administrator every time I run it! Grrr!

One day I'ma spend the time to see how to turn all that crap off!

Hi Will.

It's called "UAC" or user account control. You can disable it from your user account settings or in windows 7 use this GUI utility.

"""""Windows 7 makes it much easier to deal with UAC settings, and in fact you don’t have to completely disable UAC if you don’t want to. Just type UAC into the start menu or Control Panel search box."""""""""""""""

If you want to bone up on it or be a bit more indepth, you can go over the note by Mark R. here:

Thanks!

I'm familiar with UAC from Vista, but I thought perhaps this was different than UAC since it was even more annoying.

I was immediately turning off UAC on my Vista machines - I'll definitely look at the Win7 options now that I hear it's all still under UAC!

Hi Will,
All UAC is is trying to run your computer as a limited user instead of an administrator, yet still Allow you to run applications that were not designed for limited user run. It defeats any security you try to setup if you can run your application without being an administrator. A common pitfall in business security... "You've got a $275,000 network and pay an IT guy big bucks to make it function securely, Then load the company application that requires installation on the root C drive and to be run as Full Administrator!!!" LOL

Anyway...If you surf porn and view all the latest hot chick pictures...Leave it on. If you work on your computer. Turn it off.... :o
