Hi Danny,

I think Michael will start to work on V3 one month from now, then release first beta one month after that :)
I really like to see in surface continuity improvement and basic 2D drawing/dimensioning :)

Lets wait and see !

As a new user to version 2 (although I played with the demo of version 1 when MoI first came out) I'm really impressed with how clean the GUI is and how easy the program is to pick up and use. Well done :)

One thing that I would suggest to Michael is check some of the tutorial links on the resources page. Not all of the tutorials are available now.

Hi Pilou,

> V1 is not more on the download page ?

You mean the v1 trial versions? No, those are obsolete now, since v2 is out I only plan to have the v2 trial versions listed on the download page.

It's a major step forward to remove the v1 trial versions from the download page, because before now people who were evaluating MoI for the first time were only getting to see the v1 stuff and missing out on the all the last 2 years of development that have gone into v2.

Why would you want to get the old v1 trial version now?

Sorry Michael is right. Since version 2 is out and so much better it's time to remove version 1. Sure the price has gone up but at $295 US for a superb modeller it's still excellent bang for the buck. I'm not aware of any other 3D software developer that keeps on selling old versions once a new version is out.

Hi Pilou,

> No the complet V1 for have a less expensive possibility

If someone wants to order V1, that is still possible - they can e-mail me and I will send them a link to the old V1 order page which will still work.

But I really don't recommend it - there have just been so many improvements to many basic areas in V2 that they would be missing out on, it would be wasting their time in many aspects to struggle with things that have been solved or added in V2.

At some point in the future I may have a separate "Lite" version that has some reduced features at a reduced price, but we are probably a few years away from that now.

Hi, Michael, I'm just writing to let you know that this page needs to be updated to version 2 as well. Is this yours? It showed up on a google search on moi 3d tutorials. It sure looks like it should be yours if it isn't.

Hi omac12, thanks for the heads up!

That page is not actually mine, but it belongs to a company that I work with that handles distribution of MoI in Asia.

It will take a bit before all that kind of stuff gets updated.

Re: Educational discount versions

It will probably take until next week sometime before the v2 educational discount versions are ready, I need to do some setup work with Studica for those and it is currently a holiday weekend here in the US so that will likely delay things a bit on that front.

I also had a question from someone who had the v1 edu version but was no longer a student, they asked if they could use the current (non-edu) v2 upgrade version, and the answer is yes - the v2 upgrade version requires a v1 license key in addition to the v2 one that you get but any v1 license key will be valid for the upgrade including v1 edu licenses.

For people who are still students, I do plan on having an edu v2 upgrade version as well, that will be less expensive (how much is still not set yet, waiting to hear back from Studica on that) than the regular v2 upgrade version.
