On Snap with Grid priority?...

(Couldn't edit the Title - should be On Snap with Grid priority...)

Michael, I was wondering if there's currently a way to force the grid snap to have a higher or equal priority to the On Snap (and perhaps others.)

I was adding some points to a line and the On snap was doing its job keeping the point additions on the line BUT, I was also trying to lay the points down at the grid intersections to keep them evenly spaced, however the On Snap effectively disables the grid snap when its active.

Just wondering if there was a way to give the Grid Snap a higher or equal priority to the other snaps?

Hi Will, actually in v2 there is already something in place to make Grid snap automatically take precedence over "On" Object snap when both are enabled - it should kick in if you are snapping on to a line that is oriented parallel to one of the grid axis directions.

Here's an example - note how the "On" snaps on this line go in grid increments:

It's not really feasible to do this with just any regular curve though, because it would involve quite a lot of curve/curve intersection calculations.

Hi Will, are you possibly in some kind of particular command that has a special picking mechanism when you were trying it?

No Michael, it was exactly as you GIF'd - a simple line that I was adding corner points to.

I think my prob was it wasn't aligned to the grid axis as you mentioned.

I ended up just zooming in real close to add the points...

I had noticed after posting, that at times it did snap to the grid in some cases - I thought I was seeing things though! :-P
