Hey Danny,
When I rotate Robby on my P4, the glass disappears and the "eye's start blinking" and the "little blue lights" blink also....It would have been hard to plan that any better!!!

IT'S ALIVE!!!!!

Hi candide,

It can be helpful for communication. For example say you're working on a model for a client and you want to show them some intermediate results, and you'd like for them to be able to rotate around and view things from different angles but they do not actually have much direct experience in 3D modeling themselves.

In that kind of situation you can probably send them a 3D PDF file, which they can probably view on their system without needing to go through extra steps to install other software because they have the Acrobat reader installed already.

I know Ralf. But no Displacement. So, the bump/normal effect is busted when you look at the edges of the geometry.
But again.... that's not what it's made for. it's a quick tool and for that it works great. And 3D PDF has been a
great discovery for me...

Hi

testing simlab, I like the interface i have hypershot/keyshot and in many ways the interface is better. you loose realtime feedback but gain in being able to move scale parts easily. Also the lights render so its not just lit by HDRI. This you cant do in keyshot. In the pic i have placed a light in each lamp. got to play with the lamps to see if they can produce quality results i just used a really high number and i think that is causing the fireflies. rendered at default settings so some noise.

At the price a bargain renderer with the pdf stuff an added bonus. Render quality is exactly the same as hypershot as far as i can see.

Jamie

This software is cool until you dont work with textures(UVW map is very weak). and a lot things are missed. I think it is for only production rendering only...

I'm extremely happy with my purchase too. If all it did was import different formats, copy models and allow me to position them before rendering I would still be happy. I love the renderer, and the license policy is a lot less of a hassle than my vray rhino license. It's also much easier to set up than vray. I just looked at it as a low cost high quality renderer. Everything else is extra.

Hello All,
thanks to this forum, I found what I needed for my rendering.
Was considering Keyshot, but $995 and only on one machine did not like those parts.
Simlab composer is great and did not have any problem importing from MOI. and easy to use, as I am not a computer guy.
attached is my first rendering with Simlab composer...will probably find its way through....
....anyway, of course, to me, the crown jewel is MOI.

Michael,
I am ready for V2.
Best,
Rudy

Rudy, I like the ring. It has just a touch of a retro art deco-ish kind of thing. It feels very masculine to me. I don't think it will work for a woman. Maybe it's just the angle though? Is it a man's ring?

Great render, Rudy, I'm glad that you've finally found a rendering app that fits your needs and saved you a bunch of cash too!

Plus you get the PDF export which is great for delivering to clients etc.

Rudy,

Very nice! I was unsure about SimsLab Composer for jewelry
renderings until I saw your ring.

Hi Rudy,

Nice job on the design & render, Well done!!
Glad to hear you've found the SimLab Composer so easy to use with your first go, Congrats!!

I also considered buying this SimLab Composer...but I've already invested in V-Ray for Rhino, so couldn't see any real advantage to me.

regards Colin

No, it's not bad at all :) . That is some smooth modeling. Is it a nurbs or poly model?
