started working on a new model in Moi3d. CW xp55. I have had some trouble building as the front rotoscope doesnt match up correctly with the top and side view, but Im making out ok now.
Will post more as I go.

just a bit more progress on the back engine air intake.

Hey guys, a quick test render of the shape of the body. I put temporary wings in just for the color render.
Not sure if I will use a texture map for the panel details or model them in. I'd prefer the texture map, but will see...

Like this? Not that hard, actually. I need to fix the air intake but that is because I tried to over-engineer it big time.



Beautiful futuristic design, but I am not entirely sure that it would fly though, as it does not seem to adhere to the laws of aerodynamics.

The other planes in the book are great too, the Golden Rocket, the Red Wing, etc.

I agree. Actually, it is quite hard to figure out exactly based on the drawings in the book. I used a 3-view drawing found on the web that is probably rather wrong. I am sure that it is not that hard to do much better than that.

Apparently, many people worked on this design. I found this very cool follow-on design while surfing the web to find documentation. This looks somewhat more "realistic" or at least less cartoonish, but maybe it has less charm because of that.

Hi Mike, it's coming together very well!

The funny thing about those stabilizer fins on the front of the plane, makes the front of the plane look like a tail section of other planes from the Top view.

Hi Michael, I know its such an odly shaped airplane. I think it wound up suffering stall and flat spin issues which led to its demise in the real world!
