Windows XPee has suddenly taken a dislike to Moi files. When I ask to download and open a file from the forum, it tries to open it with Interet explorer... and when I save to the desktop it has an IE icon. I've tried using the choose the program.. window to no avail. Moi doesn't show there and when I navigate to the programme icon it ignores my choice....&*(%%$ windose.
Has anyone got any ideas?
Cheers

Hmmm, can you describe the exact steps that you are doing to download a model?

I mean are you right-clicking the link and then doing Save As, or are you left-clicking the file link?

Due to the way the forum works, you have to left-click the link which will then fetch the file, you can't right-click the link and do save as, that ends up saving the download page itself.

Yes, got that. The problem arises with any 3dm file on my computer. I can open them from within Moi, but not if I souble click on an icon. It's a windows problem, I think. I'll reload the new Beta and see if that sorts it...

It didn't.

Oh sorry, I didn't understand - this is actually a MoI bug (or "missing feature" I guess), it doesn't work with double-clicking the file, I will need to fix that up for the next beta.

In Windows just choose the prog in the list suggested when it can't open directly by double clic:)

Yes, but opening up files in this manner requires cooperation from the program to pay attention to the file name that is sent by the Windows shell. Right now MoI does not pay attention to this, so it doesn't matter what you do in Windows, MoI just isn't listening to that information right now. I will fix this up in MoI.

I undestand but if the prog is not on the list (as me), you can force open by the button "travel" (?) folowing the double clic in windows :)
And if you enable "always open this sort of file with this prog", an icon with your "Yellow light" icone is created !
And that works perfectly, for this time I have try all the manipulation :)
Each time I save a file from moi, the 3dm file + moi's icone is created on my desk :)
And start launch directly when I clic the new saved name file iconed :)
Even Moi has not the first automatic links information for the 3dm windows shell (that you want to do) after my little manipulation that pretty works ....
So now I don't understand the problem :D

Not on my computer, Frenchy. Windows ignores me looking for MoI with the 'browse' button. I choose MoI and tick the always open with square...and nothing.
Cheers

MoI will launch, but are you sure that it is loading the file that you clicked?

What should happen right now is MoI will start up but it will be a blank scene.

:):):)
You right! The screen of MOi is like a desert :D
I am too trusting in the technic!
One more time I have not seen the result, just that Moi launching was suffisant for me !

Now I full understand the problem :D
Hopfuly, it's not a big disagrement because you can load your file by the menu!
This time I have seen my object :D

:) It should not be hard for me to fix it - Windows is telling me which file should be opened, I'm just not listening to it yet.

This is fixed for the next beta, you can now set things up so that double-clicking a .3dm file in Windows file explorer will open that file up in MoI.

It doesn't automatically set it up yet though, you still need to one time hit the "browse" button and tell the Window shell that you want MoI to open that kind of file. But with the next beta once you do that it will work.
