I thought I'd post some pics of what I've been able to come up with thus far using MoI. Being I've only got the demo software and have spent the better part of the past few days reading the forum and watching the tutorials, I'm very happy with my current skill level and what I'm able to produce. Here's a pic of a Star Trek ship that I had some blue prints for that I thought would be a good first project for me to try and tackle. Overall, I'm very happy with how it's coming along.

Hi Ryan, it's turning out great, and I'm glad that you are making such quick progress learning how to use MoI!

I was intrigued with your modelling to the extent of producing the attached.
Quite mad I guess but I had great fun. (Carrara rendering)
Thanks
Brian

Heya Mad, I don't know if you've come across this yet, but a function I find handy in making spaceships, etc., is a command to detect unmatched surfaces. These are the pesky gaps that keep our stuff from being solid.

script:var gd = moi.geometryDatabase; gd.deselectAll(); var breps = gd.getObjects().getBreps(); for ( var i = 0; i < breps.length; ++i ) breps.item(i).getNakedEdges().setProperty( 'selected', true );

You can assign this to a keystroke via the Shortcut Keys options, of course.

Yes, it's my take on a Klingon Bird of Prey. I had some scale blueprints for it, so I thought it would be a good project to really just learn how to use MoI for what I want - that is designing gaming models.

I'll have to figure out how to use that script (I know nothing about using them or setting them up) but a huge concern is the water tight aspect of the design, so it's worth figuring out if it can help with that!

I haven't made any more progress on this one, but have started some other projects. Mainly because the Bird of Prey was just a learning project - probably wouldn't take me to long to finish it though?

Hi Ryan - to use a script you need to set it up on a keyboard shortcut.

Push the Options button and then go to the Shortcut keys section of the Options dialog. Push the Add button to make a new shortcut key, type in whatever letter you want to activate it for the "Key" part and paste in the script as the "Command" part.

Then when you press that key that script function will run.

There are a bunch of different scripts collected here:

Nice to come back from vacation and see some fresh stuff.
Some good progress there Ryan and you say you're a newbie to 3D, wow! MoI does it again.

Cheers
~Danny~
