Student license woes....

OK guys,

I recommended of course Moi to my younger brother, which ordered Moi through Studica.eu last saturday. He has still not received his license, I called today to Studica, and they were going to check and found it strange but I have received nothing from them since.

This really is frustrating, my brother was really exited to try out moi 2.0 and it was a spur of a moment buy for him, since then the interest has cooled down a bit and he is on the verge of canceling his order.

He must not be the only one to have this problem, this mush be a quicker process.

Hi olio - the student ordering process I'm afraid will often have some delays because they have to go through a manual process of verifying student status, like looking at his student ID card and stuff like that.

So I think that there is no progress done on such things over the weekends, and it can possibly take a couple of days to finish one of those educational orders.

If you want a faster order process, the regular order page here: https://moi3d.plimus.com/jsp/buynow.jsp?contractId=1726316 does go through a much more fully automated process when ordering with a credit card, normally there is no delay with that ordering method.

But if you want the student discount, a delay of up to a few working days (not counting weekends) is going to be pretty normal, sorry.

I guess if it is a problem I could think about not having a educational discount version at all... That's mostly the other option since I don't think it is feasible for me to handle the verification steps myself.

As far as I know though, it is very common for there to be this kind of delay with ordering many different kinds of educational discount version software, because of the extra checking process.

Hi olio, also just checking when you say "last saturday", do you mean 3 days ago, or 1 week + 3 days ago?

Thanks Michael for the clarification, I have had no prior experience with the student license things, so it was just a surprise.

I think it was last saturday, so 3 days ago! so I would say this is still in the normal period as you say they have to check student id's and such.

Hi olio, yeah that's not really out of a normal timeframe yet...

He'll probably get it tomorrow.

Please let me know though if he doesn't receive it within a couple more days.

Thanks,
- Michael

Hi Michael,

You wanted me to let you know if he has not received it in two days.

Well it has been two more days now, I called again, to check, again I was promised that they were going to check, and then no response since.

Thanks.

Hi olio, sorry it is taking so long to get the student license delivered.

If you can send me the name on the order and the date (e-mail it to me at moi@moi3d.com), I can try to ask them about it as well but I would not be surprised if we did not hear back from them until Monday.

Hi andras, well the license for every kind of educational software are not all the same.

Some may prohibit using the license for commercial work.

MoI's does not though, you can continue to use your MoI educational license after you graduate, even for commercial work or whatever.

But that may not be the same for all your software though.

Well, I didn't know that was the case. I had always assumed that educational licenses couldn't be used for commercial work, or at the very least couldn't be used for commercial work once the user ceased to be a student.

But I think the question remains, when you're no longer a student, do you have to then >upgrade to the next version at the normal (non-student) price< ?

Hi Will,

I'd assume that if you're no longer a Student & had no current Student ID then you'd be paying the normal commercial price.
That'll be my position as of the New Year, so when V2 is officially released I'll be paying the normal price for the upgrade.

regards Colin

Hi Will,

I think the way it will work is that there will be 4 versions available for v2:

v2 full version
v2 upgrade license from v1
v2 educational discount full version
v2 educational discount upgrade license from v1

You will only be able to buy the last 2 "educational discount" ones if you are still a student.

But if you have a v1 edu license that you got while you were a student, you will be able to use it for the 2nd one above, the non-edu "v2 upgrade license from v1" even if you are no longer a student.

In other words, the v1 edu license will work for getting the v2 upgrade instead of needing the v2 full version.
