I can trim the edge by using the trim tool by add a point, but how I can combine them together??? if I use a "Join" tool, It makes a new line---
I'm new to the MOI, but it's important to me--- Thanks --

Hi qibentie, in the current MoI v2 beta there is a new Merge command which you can set up on a keyboard shortcut which will combine edges like that into longer single edges.

Hi Pilou, yup your method will work for that particular case because there is a kind of special simplification process that happens for planar surfaces in boolean union.

But I don't think that method will work for other things that are not only made up of planes.

Either Make a keyboard shortcut, with Merge as the commend, or just type Tab+Merge. No GUI. It's in the commands folder. V2 Beta.

Hi Michael T, yeah Burr's got it covered above - I have not found a place to put a button for it yet so you need to set up a keyboard shortcut for it to run it now (or type in the command name).

Hi Michael G,

> I have not found a place to put a button for it.....

Just curious, but have you restricted the tool palettes, by design, to three rows, can't you add a 4th ?

There is on more spot on the Edit palette, can't you use that spot, maybe shuffling some of the icons though.

Cheers

Hi Danny,

Well, I've just got a general hesitation to add new icons in to heavily used areas.

When areas become dense with many icons it tends to make it more difficult to browse the UI and find the particular thing you are looking for.

So there's a pretty high bar to adding in a kind of "top-level" icon into a high traffic area.

One thing I'm particularly worried with Merge is having it too easily confused/crossed with Join.

I think that sometime in v3 I will be trying to have a kind of "advanced tools" menu where I can stash a bunch of things that are not really needed too often.

Which version of MoI are you using?

The merge command is only available in the current v2 beta, it doesn't work in MoI v1.
