Just a quick note - in MoI you don't need to hold down the shift key to do multiple selection.

It doesn't hurt anything to hold down shift, but it's not necessary, you can just click on the edges you want to select without shift and it will work the same.

There's a shortcut - just select one edge, then do Ctrl+A (or on the side pane click on Select / Sel all).

When you have an edge selected, then you can do a "select all" to select all the other edges on that one object.

Invert works in the same way, if an edge is selected then it will target edges.

Also if you select a single edge, it will also set window selection (where you click in an empty area and drag to make a selection box) to target edges as well.
